Kenpom Says Hoyas are Okay. Terps, Not So Much

Kenpom is a fancy pythagorean-calculative program that projects the wins for college basketball teams. Independent of sweaty blazers, argumentative guards and failed Princeton offenses, it uses stats and trends to measure what it team is likely to do with the rest of its season, and spits out a magic record.

Hoyas’ Close Win Creates Long-Term Questions

They blew a lead, turned the ball over and shot poorly against the perimeter. So you can call it a win over Temple for the Georgetown Hoyas, but what they picked up in the win column, they certainly lost in the confidence pool.
They’re young and talented, but there are no early indicators that the 20th-ranked [...]

John Thompson, You Media Slickster, You

Ever notice how John Thompson is an expert on common sense and not so much sports? And while common sense is a rare and precious commodity, does it make for the stuff that makes great radio hosts? Particularly in sports radio?
Don’t get me wrong, I know how much of a community institution Coach Thompson is [...]

Terps and Hoyas, Locked and Loaded in 2009

The Maryland Terrapins and Georgetown Hoyas men’s basketball teams are going to be good in 2009-10. Really good.

Local College Teams Can’t Twitter

I was completely shocked this morning to receive an email about the 100 Best Twitter Feeds for College Sports Fanatics, and not spy any local feeds dedicated to Terps, Hoyas, Patriots, Colonials, Bears, Eagles, Bison, Greyhounds, Golden Retrievers, Blue Jays, Bulldogs, Hawks or Fire Birds.
Very shocked.

DaJuan Summers Declares For NBA Draft

I don’t really get this move. DaJuan Summers wasn’t dominant in a Big East Conference known for dominance. He was a solid player, capable of flashes of brilliance.
But luminary was certainly not his middle name.

Allen Iverson Brings Back Hoya Haircut

Remember the days when Allen Iverson was a burst of energy on the Big East basketball scene? Of course you do, but you probably don’t remember that his days as a Georgetown Hoya were also his last days of receiving regular haircuts.
Until now.

Chris Wright Controls the Hoya Universe

Let’s make it plain. The Georgetown Hoyas are young, and they suck.  Greg Monroe will be okay next year, DaJuan Summers, should he return next season, will be okay. And the Hoyas will be a top ten team.
And while you can call out the entire team for a lack of execution, there’s one player that [...]

Hoyas Doing Their Best Maryland Terrapins Imitation

So what is up with Georgetown Hoya basketball these days? They will probably begin next week still ranked in the top 25, but just barely. They were knocked out at home last night by West Virginia, who aside from their moonshine and the inevitable Redskins trade for Randy Moss in about two years, has no [...]

Hollis Thompson Comes to Washington

Hollis Thompson, a standout forward from California, has officially landed in Washington D.C. He is on campus, enrolled in spring classes, and will be practicing with the team.
But he won’t be playing, and that could mean trouble for a young guy from the West Coast getting his first taste of adulthood in Chocolate City. So [...]
