It’s all coming to an end for the Baltimore Ravens. The smothering defense, the happy-go-disciplined approach to the game. The youthfulness of playing football. Time and coaching acumen have all caught up to the Baltimore Ravens, and one of its best defenders sits on the sideline with a difficult decision that has just one possible solution.
Ed Reed should retire.

Earl Boykins is something the Washington Wizards could have never expected. For better and for worse.
Really, what does it say when Ernie Grunfeld has the eye to grab a diminutive journeyman point guard that can produce on a consistent basis? It says he knows what he’s doing.
But what happens when that same diminutive point guard is your best fourth quarter scoring option? Given all of the scoring ability on this roster, it also indicates that Grunfeld doesn’t know what he’s doing.
How nice of Brendan Morrison to throw a little stank on your holiday hockey.
Note the question is “should,” not “could,” because there’s no way the Washington Wizards are going to jettison the one variable that has nothing to do with their inconsistency. But with all things being equal, including last year’s poor start to the season and the continued defensive struggles of the team, is there room to think that Saunders is not the answer in Washington, just as Eddie Jordan wasn’t?
As someone who is just coming into his own as an avid hockey fan, I must admit that I am not nuanced in what makes a good hockey team. I know about shifts, but don’t quite get why specific players are important within them.
I understand the positions, but don’t know which ones have the right kind of impact for the right kind of plays.
And I understand that Alex Ovechkin is great, but I don’t know why beyond the cliches that come on during SportsCenter highlights.
And because I don’t know any of this, I’m not afraid to ask – particularly since the Washington Capitals are the closest thing we have to a championship contender in this region.
So what do I need to know to be a true Washington Capitals fan, and not just someone who ebbs and flows with their wins and losses? I appreciate any and all help. And by the way – I love the fact that I could ask Ted Leonsis this question and feel confident that he would answer, but I’d much rather get the man-in-the-stands perspective first.
So, the Redskins would have us believe that because they got a flighty, minority assistant coach to conduct a token interview for a not-yet-vacant head coaching gig, that they aren’t a racist organization?
Please.
We’ve had the discussion about what’s in a name, and for all intents and purposes on their end, the Redskins have succeeded in making folks tired of hearing about it. But this is an entirely different method of minority madness; one that speaks to an inherent problem this organization has shouldered since the days of George Preston Marshall.
It’s not that they keep us out, it’s that they don’t treat us well when we’re inside the doors.
Only the hapless Cleveland Browns could fire the idiot that hired Eric Mangini, be sued, and possibly lose the case.
Yep, so glad that he’s FORMER Ravens executive George Kokinis.
In metro areas where basketball is the sport of leisure and survival, the Crab Bowl provides a cute gridiron distraction just prior to the Christmas break.
And this year, the DC area all-stars proved better than those from Charm City, as they stifled the Baltimore all-stars in a defensive showcase, 24-21.
Again, it’s a nice contest to have for the few football stars we have within the Baltimore-Washington corridor. But this ain’t Texas. By and large, if the game doesn’t have a shot clock and a guest appearance by Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant, we probably aren’t trying to hear it. No matter what end of 295 you live on.

Not that he needs that much help, because Daniel Snyder has already done such a fine job of it. But if Snyder is going to fire Jim Zorn, it will cost him much more than the remaining terms of the contract. It’s going to cost him players, fans, and likely, league-wide respectability, if there was such a thing coming into this season.
