LaRon Landry is Missing

Well, maybe not missing as much as he doesn’t want to be found.

OTAs are voluntary in name only, because the premise of the event is an adventure in team building, championship commitment, and unspoken scorn for those who don’t show up.

Fortunately for the Diamond City blogosphere, Washington is not a championship-caliber team, so most of the scorn can be reserved for the coaching staff and administration that make a big deal out of a player skipping voluntary workouts and drills.

Is it important that they can’t find him? Yes, in the sense that it is rude for your employer to not know where you are, even when you are on vacation. Is it a big deal that Landry’s not at an event not contractually requiring his attendance? Absolutely not. And other than checking on his health and well-being, what else do they want from him?

Is there camaraderie he needs to build with other teammates? Critical reads and assignments he needs to learn in the defensive scheme? I would hope not, lest Washington be scolded for continuing to employ a secondary-version of LaVar Arrington.

Let’s recap. Leave LaRon Landry alone.
