Ray Lewis Gets Seven More Years…


…which will likely translate into two or three years once you sift through all of the team options and ramifications with the salary cap. Bottom line, Ray Lewis will end his career with the Baltimore Ravens in the next 2-3 years, and will walk away with a front loaded deal and the option to retire before the Ravens need to embarrass him by cutting him.

After all of the jibber-jabber and speculation, Ray Lewis and the team that needed him most got it done.

There will be questions about the standing of the NFL’s salary cap in 2011, and there is a possibility that Lewis plays at a high level beyond the two years most of us are projecting for him. But the Ravens have made far more good moves than bad, and the last thing you’ll see out of the Ravens merchandising unit is a push to sell off Ray Lewis jerseys after his retirement.
