The Five People You Meet at Washington Wizards Games

The Washington Wizards are mired in their worst season ever. An epic fail of porous defense, injuries, and non-bloggable locker room material. If you were to assume that Wizards fans were not taking this dose of insignificance well after a string of positive seasons, then you would be more than dead on.

As such, behold the few, the proud, the fans of the Washington Wizards.

Here we have the fan who wallows in the success of visiting superstars. They have no star of their own that has the ability to position the team to victory, so they spend their time heckling and hating those who can actually contribute to a victory. In this case, it’s the LeBron James hater, a common species in the Washington-area.

Next, we have the “Party Up” fan, who views the Verizon Center as a social outlet instead of a sports arena. He’s likely to enjoy the brew, scope the chicks, and talk about all of the action he didn’t notice while parading the mezzanine. You can catch him at the 7th St. Ruby Tuesday for most game nights.

Next, you have the Wizards loyalist, who will always believe the Wizards have a chance at success and prosperity. Not because of their talent, mind you, but because he believes that you put your all behind the home team. All of the time.

If you recover from your initial shock with the flag-bearing loyalist, you’ll run into the corporates. The folks who hold downtown weight and show up occasionally for a night at the Phone Booth.

Finally, you get the confused college student. This type is usually the most entertaining, because he likely got tickets to the Wizards-Raptors game that the Student Union was raffling off, and thought it would be a good idea to make the trip his own personal college night at the Verizon Center.
