Chris Wright Controls the Hoya Universe

Let’s make it plain. The Georgetown Hoyas are young, and they suck.  Greg Monroe will be okay next year, DaJuan Summers, should he return next season, will be okay. And the Hoyas will be a top ten team.

And while you can call out the entire team for a lack of execution, there’s one player that the stats identify as the Seroquel to Hoya Paranoia. As sophomore guard Chris Wright goes, so go the Hoyas. And he’ll pretty much need a Napolean Dynamite-like finish for the Hoyas to have a shot at a Big East title run and NCAA tournament appearance.

In games where Wright records four or more rebounds, the Hoyas are 5-2. When Wright grabs three or fewer boards, the team is 8-7. When Chris Wright makes at least one three-pointer, the Hoyas are 8-4. When the iron is unkind, 5-5.

Three or more turnovers in a game? 5-5. Two or fewer TO’s have the Hoyas sitting pretty at 8-4.

So, the Hoyas’ voodoo is all in what Chris Wright don’t do. When he isn’t on his game, at best, the Hoyas are a middle of the road team. But when he plays near or at his potential, they are an inside/outside threat to anyone in the country.

And to think, all he has to do is listen to his heart.
