LeBron James, You Complete Us

In a season where there’s not much to talk about aside from when Gilbert Arenas is coming back and how high JaVale McGee can jump, its nice to know that the Washington Wizards rivalry with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers still gives us that spark to be as ignorant as we wanna be.

Especially when we win.

Even the set up for last night’s installment of the drama between the Wizards and the Cavaliers was perfect. DeShawn Stevenson, an NBA journeyman whose lack of feeling in his face and timely defense has made him a fixture in the Metro hoops scene, was clad in velvet and antagonizing his arch enemy James, who apparently is so good, he can transform a travel into some kind of new dribble.

Stevenson was injured and mouthy, James was healthy and had his fare card through the paint revoked. Wizards win.

Where exactly would we be without this rivalry? With no playoffs in sight, no help on the horizon, the morning star that is LeBron James gives us reason to check online for who the Wizards play next. The fickle fan base that is Washington has no reason to support this franchise as is presently constructed, but they stay tuned and stay up for when Cleveland is on the other side of the court because it’s all we’ve got left.

To know that win or lose, we’ll likely see something that makes us hate James and the Cavs more today than we did before makes everything alright. Forget blowouts on the road, the searing inability to defend three pointers, and all of the pain Ivan Carter has had to endure showing us the best of the team in spite of its worst play. It all goes away with tip-off against King James.

So keep the crab dribble intact, LeBron. Washington is better of with it than without it.
