Hollis Thompson Comes to Washington

Hollis Thompson, a standout forward from California, has officially landed in Washington D.C. He is on campus, enrolled in spring classes, and will be practicing with the team.

But he won’t be playing, and that could mean trouble for a young guy from the West Coast getting his first taste of adulthood in Chocolate City. So here’s five ways for Hollis Thompson to stay out of trouble until the summer rolls around.

5. Do Not Speak With Any Washington Wizards Guards - Three of the Wizards best guards, Gilbert Arenas, Nick Young and DeShawn Stevenson all have California roots. And all of them are crazy as hell. JTIII would be best suited by keeping Thompson away from the tri-force of eccentricity before his star recruit comes into the fall wearing Dukie ropes, hi-top fades and blogging about hiring G-Town law students to do his homework because its “hella cool.”

4. Avoid All One-Name Clubs – Love, Ibiza, Posh, each of those places are designed for a young brother to become famous on youtube before you can say Dickie V. Stick with hangouts that at least contain two words, or at least an ampersand. Like Dave & Busters, or Jerry’s Subs and Pizza.

3. Be careful wearing NFC-related gear – Especially if he is a 49ers fan. Redskins enthusiasts won’t take to kindly to wearing the gear of the squad that put the perfect finishing touches on an 8-8 season.

2. Avoid mambo sauce – It’s delicious. God’s speciall little way to say “Here D.C., you’ll know my love every time you enjoy a few wings. But if you aren’t from here, it may not be something your palate, or your soul, will be able to handle.

1. Don’t Accept Inauguration Tickets… – …from anyone on the streets. Chances are, the tickets are expired vouchers from a Downtown Locker Room Hoyas after-party at Ibiza.

If you avoid these pitfalls, you’ll likely find a higher plane of success in your Hoya career. Or at least higher than today’s display.
