What’s Right With the Washington Wizards
The Wizards lost their third consecutive game last night to the Milwaukee Bucks, and while there’s every reason in the world to talk about what’s wrong with the team, why can’t we talk about what’s right with the Wiz kids?
Still Dropping Buckets - The Wizards are scoring a healthy 99 points per game, good for ninth in the league so far. This is in a lineup without Gilbert Arenas, without a Roger Mason Jr., who defected to San Antonio and has become the new Michael Finley, and without DeShawn Stevenson’s three-point range in full effect.
Thieves in the Night- The Wizards are averaging more than seven steals per game through three contests, which shows some energy on defense.
Low Turnover – The Wizards are about middle-of-the-pack in the NBA when it comes to turnovers with 14 per. You can argue about when the turnovers happen, but they are still lower than many of the better teams in the league in that department.
Youth Movement – The Wizards are young, and their bench will pull together as a productive unit as time goes on. Juan Dixon will find a role in the offense, JaVale McGee will be a presence in the post, and hopefully, Eddie Jordan finds more scoring opportunities for the surprising Nick Young.
And that’s about it. Every other important statistic doesn’t bode well in the Wizards’ favor. Like you, I’m looking forward to the return of Gilbert, more defensive intensity, and for Pecherov to drop buckets, but we have to stay positive until the change comes.
You know, yes we can, this is our moment? C’mon folks, work with me here.

Which also goes to show you….statistics can be very deceiving.
The Youth Movement is about all these Wizards have (aside from Butler and Jamison) through the first three games.
Having just watched the Wiz blow a lead and the game to the Knicks, I’m convinced that the Young Squad will be their way to relevance.
If not, it will be Eddie’s ticket out of town.
