Those In-and-Out Maryland Terrapins

The Maryland Terrapins spent all of a week at the peak of their football prowess. They reached the top 25 for the first time in a couple of years, they were at the stop of the ACC divisional standings, and had defeated three nationally-ranked opponents coming into the game against the Virginia Tech Hokies.

And then, it all went out the window.

Suffice it to say that we know absolutely nothing about the Terps. One game, they can look like a balanced offense with a bend-but-don’t-break defense. Other times, they look like they could easily be Clemson; full of talent and short on execution.

The good news is that they are bowl-eligible, and if they can win one of the next two home games against North Carolina and Florida State, the Emerald Bowls of the world should be beneath them. But don’t let those three eariler upsets fool you – these Terps will have it rough at home against North Carolina and Florida State, and they could easily slide back into 7-5 football purgatory by the time Boston College comes calling.

You can’t count the Terps out against anyone, but they certainly haven’t earned the right to be counted in for a significant post-season bowl berth.
