Maryland Upsets Michigan State? You’re Kidding

Is there some way an enterprising scientist can test the water in College Park? Never before have I seen an athletic program that is absolutely lethargic against mediocre competition, and brilliant against teams they have no business sharing a court or field with.

And as it has been with Maryland football, the Terrapins men’s basketball is kicking into muddled expectations right on time with a win over sixth-ranked Michigan State.

It’s not hard to tell why Michigan State lost. First, the only two Spartans to score in double-figures wer guards, and if there’s one thing Maryland does correctly, its throw guards at you. Second, the Terps may have found a secret weapon in Dave Neal, who should be body-doubling for Ben Roethlisberger instead of being the interior spark off of the Maryland bench. He saved the Terps against Vermont, and gave his best Stephen Curry imitation with 17 points in 17 minutes against MSU, including perfection from three-point range.

Finally, any ranked team who does not fear the turtle should not be coaching. Especially in this, the Old Spice Classic, where Gary Williams he stands to become a legend in the antiperspirant marketing industry and a villain in the men’s fashion industry.
