Jim Zorn Balances Out the Football Universe
Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn has injected something into the Skins’ offense that has turned them from ashy-to-classy in just one summer.
And its not a commitment to playing physical.
It’s offensive balance.
Looking at the offense, you would think that Jason Campbell and the crew were the rebirth of the Fun Bunch, what with their anti-Gibbs tinkering with this thing called a forward pass. But would you believe that on the season, the Redskins have attempted 125 passes, and carried the ball 123 times?
And its working well for them, as they are hovering just under 22 points per game, and are top 15 in both categories.
To put it in perspective, the sissified New England Patriots ran the ball 135 fewer times than they passed in 2007. Having a gay offense may work for some teams, if you have a pretty boy or a gunslinger under center, but for the Redskins, its all about approaching each and every Sunday like it was a game of Madden 09.
It may be a pass-happy league, but Jim Zorn has got the Redskins onto a big secret that is making its round around the Internet.
Alternating between passing and running may work out for you in the long run.
