Hip Hip Hooray Indeed, Redskins

They did it again, and this time, you kind of expected them to do it.

The Washington Redskins hit the road with Bandwagon in tow, and defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in come-from-behind fashion. They are now sitting pretty behind the New York Giants in the NFC East, are look to be a legitimate contender in the conference.

So with the exception of Naughty By Nature, everyone should be pretty excited about these Skins. They’re having fun, they’re using throwback celebration chants, and no one has posted a shot of his Johnson in more than a week.

In a city that caught hell last week for bailouts, the Washinton Redskins are rescuing the average Washingtonian’s football jones. A bandwagon is what we were hoping for, and its a bandwagon we got, fully loaded with an eccentric head coach behind the wheel, a maturing young quarterback giving directions, and a merry band of offensive threats singing along the way.

Everything the Baltimore Ravens should’ve been about two years ago.

You have to be from the area or at least familiar with the area to truly know the jubilation. The energy is similar to Dallas or Pittsburgh, with far less success spiking the Kool-Aid. Underachievers for the better part of the 21st century, the Redskins are finally making good on the promise blared in their racially-insensitive, yet catchy theme song.

Fighting for old D.C.

And they’re not just fighting, but winning. They’ve reached a point where betting against them is uncertain, betting in their favor warrants merit, and local bloggers are actually pulling for them.

Here’s to more fighting.
