If Daniel Snyder is Wrong…

By JC • on September 25, 2008

…then Washington Redskins fans the world over shouldn’t want to be right. I personally despise the guy. He knows nothing about football, he extorts his fans, and has made a racial epithet one of the most lucrative sports brands in the world today.

But, fair is fair, and if it wasn’t for Daniel Snyder, the Redskin fan experience would be nowhere near what is is today.

Without Daniel Snyder, Brian Mitchell doesn’t have a job on ESPN 980, Clinton Portis’ pockets would not be straight, and Chris Cooley is nothing more than a D.C. Sports Bog commenter.

Without Daniel Snyder, the push for Darrell Green and Art Monk to enter the Hall of Fame is not as strong, and Jason Campbell doesn’t date Miss District of Columbia.

Without Daniel Snyder, Chief Zee would be a Pulitzer prize winner in literature, Da Mayor of Fed Ex is a bottle of Crown Royal away from rehab, and Eastern Motors would require a little bit more than a work history to give you a new car.

Is it easy to hate Daniel Snyder? Obviously. But do you have reasons to actually love the man? Absolutely.

Meh…the Redskins brand/franchise value was already pretty big, Snyder just found a way to exploit that and make a buck. All those things happen with another owner.

The franchise was pretty big, but no where near as big as it currently is. In just nine seasons, the franchise has nearly doubled in value; pretty good for a team that hasn’t won a Super Bowl and has less than a handful of playoff victories during the span.
