Five Reasons Why The Baltimore Orioles Could Be Worse

They raised up the hopes of the city, only to dash them in a heap of tired arms, pulled hamstrings and losses to everybody on the east coast. Yep, these are your 2008 Baltimore Orioles, the team that no one thought could, came close to doing so, only to become what everyone thought they would be much earlier in the season.

But, things could be worse for the O’s. And here’s five reasons why.

5. Out of all the divisional last place teams, the Orioles have the most wins. - They aren’t quite the laughing stocks that the Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals are. It would take two Richard Priors, a Chris Rock, and an audience full of Jokers to pull that off.

4. They could be greedy about their mediocrity – The Orioles know they suck, so for the final games of the season, they don’t mind giving away seats for a dollar.

3. Aubrey Huff could still be a public nuisance to the City of Baltimore - He could still be putting down the clubs and culture of the city. Amazing how 100 RBI can make folks forget so quickly.

2. They could still have Jay Gibbons in the lineup – It’s one thing to suck, but its something totally different to suck while you’re on the juice.

1. They could be the Washington Nationals - The countdown is on in Washington for 100 losses. Meanwhile, no protests have broken out at Camden Yards, which is always a good sign.

  1. Yea, but has Angelos opened his mouth lately?

I guess it’s good that he’s no longer on the national hater radar:

I think that the Orioles’ moderate success has made people focus their angst away from Angelos, and more on growth for next season.
