I highly doubt it. I assume that most NFL players have satellite packages that enable them to watch any other game than the regional television broadcast, so they didn’t even have to look at the Ravens’ 17-10 victory over their rival 1c Cincinnati Bengals.
But just in case they decided to take a peek, I wonder if the Ravens defense made them wonder, “that was just us a couple of seasons ago.” Is it possible that the Redskins’ offensive unit, watching a rookie quarterback under a new system, wondered “we can’t be that far off. These guys were a laughing stock last season.”
And what about Redskins fans? They are far more numerous than Ravens fans in this region and throughout the country. And for all of their prime time bluster, the Redskins flopped like trees in Hurricane Hanna. It can’t be encouraging to tune into those Baltimore bammas and see a better opening day product, can it?
I mean, this was the Ravens. The interception throwing, all-ya’ll-got-is-defense, Ray-Lewis-is-getting-old, Baltimore Ravens. This was the same team that for more years than not, would have done anything to get somebody like Todd Collins at quarterback. The Redskins are the ones that are supposed to be the cream of the NFC East this year, not at the bottom looking up at their divisional opponents crushing the competition.
The change for these two teams through the first game of the season would’ve made you think Barack Obama was the Ravens’ offensive coordinator. The nerve of that bunch to complete passes, and move the ball down the field. The nerve of a rookie quarterback to look beyond his years in his first home NFL start.
I can’t imagine what Redskins fans and players must be thinking the morning after seeing a successful opening day up the road from them, but I’m confident the Skins’ will pull it together.
Because Washington just can’t bear 16 games of more of the same from Week 1.

And Sarah Palin as defensive coordinator.
+1 Bill
On the other hand, the Bengals should make the Redskins feel good about themselves.
