Revenge of the Terps
Although their current roster and recruiting efforts don’t match it, the schedule for the Terps men’s basketball team is an exercise in tournament preparation.
Which is exactly why they’ll likely be the laughing stock of the ACC this season.
We all know this isn’t a team featuring hard-nosed guards like Juan Dixon or Steve Blake, or versatile forwards like Chris Wilcox or the legend, Exree Hipp. This is a team whose primary weapon AND ball handler will be Greivis “Sex on a Scooter” Vasquez, who has a quicker trigger finger than the protagonist in “Wanted” and loves to see Gary come out of sweat-drenched blazer for fun.
Aside from the diminished-yet-still-tough ACC competition, the Terps will be seeking revenge against new found regional foe American University, the usual suspects in George Washington and Morgan State, Michigan State in an early season classic, and Michigan in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The assumption is that the Terps won’t have a mid-major meltdown like last season, so they could theoretically be ranked in the top 25 headed into conference competition.
But that Greivis is such a prankster, and Williams’ jacket ain’t gonna toss itself.
