Former Washington Bullet Kevin Duckworth Dies

Kevin Duckworth, a man who was among the many Washington Bullets/Wizards to pass through town long enough to become synonymous with obscurity and mediocrity, died yesterday at the age of 44.

His premium years were spent with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he helped the team to the 1990-91 NBA Finals and was a two-time NBA all-star. For two years in Washington, he was the center for the good old days of Bullets basketball at the Capital Centre, where post play was always a priority, but usually turned into a comedy.

In today’s blogosphere, his name will pop up every now and again along with the likes of Calbert Cheaney, Don McLean, Doug Overton, and Robert Pack as a part of the “They played for us? They played in the NBA?” former Bullet/Wizards alumni. He was not a knucklehead, and we cheered for him hard.

We’re fortunate that in his short time here, Washington was one of his stops.
