Can You Get Any Worse Than The Washington Nationals?

Seriously, is there a more harrowing tale of inadequate play and disengaged fans than the Washington Nationals? Not for my money. The Washington Wizards, the down years of the Washington Redskins, even the Baltimore Orioles can’t come close to the 2008 Nats.

You have to go into Mike Tyson, Len Bias territory to find a sadder story.

There is hope for this team, with promising young players like Lastings Milledge, Elijah Dukes, and John Lannan, but far and away, you’re more likely to root for the Washington Kastles than these guys.

They are on pace for 100 losses, and the Olympics has totally siphoned all attention away from their horrible season.

But they are still laughing, and that’s important in the face of certain long-term ineptitude.

  1. Thing is….since the franchise is so new to DC, hope hasn’t been around for that long. Plus, we’ve been sold on a “plan” — no, it doesn’t sit well that they’re this bad, but they certainly weren’t expected to contend.

Since in the sport of baseball teams can go from worst to first, like this year’s Rays, success may be just around the corner. At the same time, the management better get their shit together…..Bowden’s on thin ice.
