Ray Lewis Calls Out Brian Billick’s Play Calling

by JC on October 23, 2007

You knew it wouldn’t be long before the soul of the Baltimore Ravens franchise called out its face. On his weekly radio show last night, Ray Lewis publicly expressed frustration and dismay with the play calling of Brian Billick in the Ravens 19-14 defeat to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Perhaps even more disheartening, is that Lewis believes more of the same is yet to come.

“You can’t make oranges be peaches. It doesn’t change. It will never change. That’s what Billick has to ask himself, why we keep putting ourselves in those situations. In the Cincinnati game, that cost us with those same decisions.”

In and around the franchise, it is pretty well known that Lewis believes his motivational hold on the team could and should translate to success in the play calling. While that may not always be the case, it has proven right more often then not. And these days, more often than not, Billick’s play calling is under fire in Baltimore. Lewis’ heated opinions have never erupted into a full four-alarm blaze in the media, and Billick deserves much of the credit for that. But from the looks of things, Charm City football fans should prepare for another great fire.
